Our Program-The K-Prep Advantage
We use age appropriate activities to encourage your child's exploration of the world. Our lesson plans incorporate creative, hands-on, ways to introduce the math, science and language skills as well as reading readiness, that will help your child succeed when they reach Kindergarten.
We place a strong emphasis on creativity through art and music using a wide range of mediums and materials. Creating a masterpeice is a great way for children to practise the fine motor skills needed for writing. Central to our daily routines are songs, rhymes, and music; children take home not only art projects that they are proud to display, but often a new song to teach mom and dad too!
At K-Prep we believe that academic success in future years also depends on a child's ability to behave appropriately in social settings. That's why even our youngest students participate in group-time activities which help develop their social skills, learn how to be friends and co-operate with a variety of personalities.
Weekly themes teach important ideas, including healthy habits and staying safe. Whenever possible our curriculum is enhanced through visitor demonstrations or classroom activities such as cooking or gardening experiences. The opportunity to share lunchtime with classmates and teachers is a great way for children to develop social skills, demonstrate independence and encourage healthy eating.
Before collecting their children parents are able to read the classroom board to see exactly what the class did throughout the day. Progress reports are sent home each semester so that parents can see where their children are succeeding and where they may need more help at home. Teachers e-mail addresses are provided to Parents to make communication with the school easy.
Choose from a variety of options that suit the needs of you and your child:
- Large and small class sizes
- A non-potty trained 3 year old class
- One thru five days per week program
- Before/After care from 8am-5.30pm (billed in 1/2 hr increments)
- 4K extended day from 9.30-12.30pm or 11.35-2.30pm for those participating in Waukesha's 4K program at our site.
- Flexible Summer School program.
