Mary Davenport has been our Director since 2007, bringing extensive experience in early childhood education and development.
"My degreee is in early childhood education with a concentration in the fine arts. I taught Kindergarten for 9 years before I became a stay at home mom. Although my degree is in education, being a mom just added so much more to my knowledge of children. I enjoyed spending time with my children playing, exploring and just having fun! After becoming an 'Empty Nester' when my daughter left for college, I returned to my first career path; teaching young children and having fun! I returned to teaching at Gray Mare Preschool in Waukesha for 4 years before becoming the director at K-Prep Preschool in 2007. Even though I am no longer in the classroom teaching I still get to enjoy spending my days with children and having fun! I feel strongly that young children need to have fun and I truly believe that education and fun need to go hand in hand as children play, learn and discover.
At the School of Education I developed a passion for Fine Arts and now I get to spend my whole day wrapped up in it at K-Prep; seeing a child create a painting that is an explosion of color, a child playing the pirate on a ship that has been built in the block corner is theatre in the making, a group of children moving freely to the latest rhythm artist is the best ballet ever! I get to enjoy it all!"

WINTER ISN'T OVER YETOur winter hasn't been too snowy and icy yet but living in Wisconsin it could change at any time. If it does make a dramatic turn, please take care walking in the parking lot and remember the 5 mph speed limit to keep everyone safe. With the mild wintry weather our playground has been icy and wet rather then snow covered. Because the children tend to get their snow pants & boots very wet an extra pair of socks in the backpack would be a good idea. OUR NEW "CHILD TRACKING PLAN".........I think that most parents have adjusted to "checking in and out" their children with the clothespin "tracking device" which I appreciate. I know that it may seem a little over the top but it is required by the state of Wisconsin's Department of Children & Families. If our licensing specialist visits K-Prep and a child hasn't been checked in or out properly K-Prep could receive a fine ranging from $10-$1000 for each occurrence. So, please continue to help us stay compliant. SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATIONStarting the week of March 5th Summer Camp registration forms will be available. This year we will offer our summer camp program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will add Wednesdays, if there is a demand. Before and after care will be available where a sufficient need exists. As last year, each week there will be a different camp theme. Each theme will be enriched with visitors providing fun and educational activities. Lots of outdoor time, waterplay and heaps of creative projects make the children have a fabulous summer. Our summer camp program provides flexibility allowing you to enroll for the whole summer or just a few weeks - you only pay tuition for the weeks that you register your child. To help me with class and teacher planning please register early this year. If you register prior to May 1, 2012 the registration is FREE. WAUKESHA SCHOOL DISTRICT 4K REGISTRATIONK-Prep is again a community site for the School District of Waukesha's 4K program, school year 2012-2013. This program is available to children who are 4 years old as of September 1, 2012 and live in Waukesha. If your child is attending K-Prep this year in our 3's program and you are interested in your child attending the district's program at K-Prep you are able to do Early Registration at K-Prep and DO NOT have to attend the city wide registration on March 31st (early Registration begins on March 12th and ends March 22nd, no exceptions). We have 2 sessions of 4K at K-Prep; morning is from 9.00 to 11:35 and afternoon from 12:30 to 3:05 Monday-Friday. Supplement the 4K district program and extend your child's day by enrolling in K-Prep's own 4's program on the days of your choice. Please use Early Registration at K-Prep to avoid having to attend the citywide registration on March 31st. Registration forms will be available at K-Prep by March 1st. Note: if you live outside the school district of Waukesha but your school district has a 4K program you can apply to attend the School District of Waukesha's 4K program at K-Prep through "open enrollment". As there are very strict open enrollment dates it is important to contact your own school district ASAP. More information will be in my March newsletter regarding what is needed to complete the registration process. KWIK TRIP SCRIP GIFT CARD PROGRAMYou will be receiving an order form for Kwik Trip Scrip Cards. These cards can be used for almost everything (gas, food items, car washes etc.) at your local Kwik Trip stores. Everyone needs gas so we hope this will be an easy fundraiser for the school. K-Prep will receive 10% of the value of the cards ordered. Please return your order form by February 13th. If the cards prove to be popular we'll send order forms monthly.
